Modern usefulness. Fewer dependencies.

A Vintage Algorithm began with a simple frustration: too many ordinary products now require an account, an app, a subscription, a cloud connection, or all four.

AVA is a curated guide to practical technology that works on its own. We look for durable household equipment, analog tools, offline-capable gear and thoughtfully simple products that earn their place by doing the job reliably.

Not anti-technology

AVA is not about rejecting modern technology. It is about choosing the right amount of it. A connected product can be useful; a connected product that becomes useless when a server disappears is something else entirely.

Prepared, not paranoid

Our emergency and off-grid coverage follows the same philosophy. Candle lanterns, compact stoves, radios, lighting and backup power can be useful during a storm, outage, road trip or weekend outdoors. Practical resilience belongs in an ordinary home.
